Corporate LEADERSHIP Council

Partnering with the Corporate Community

The Houston Parks Board’s Corporate Leadership Council is a means to involve the corporate community in parks and green space issues and provide funding for park projects. With the help of Mayor Bill White, the Houston Parks Board inaugurated its first Corporate Leadership Council in 2006.

The Corporate Leadership Council is a consortium of Houston area corporations who have committed support for the Houston Parks Board’s mission to create, improve and protect parkland for Houston. Houston’s business community has a unique legacy of forward-thinking community involvement. It is our goal to focus this thinking on quality of life issues, specifically parks and green space, which are leading indicators of a community’s quality of life. This topic has become more important to Houston businesspeople who are concerned about attracting and retaining talented employees, and making our city the kind of place where they want to continue doing business.

Since the Parks Board was created in 1976, we have helped add over 15,000 acres of park space within Houston’s city limits. We have been a driving force behind a majority of parkland acquisitions and improvements made to Houston’s parks, which make our city a healthier and more beautiful place to live. This progress has been possible through the generous contributions of many families, foundations and corporations who have supported our work- and who have planted the seeds for what promises to be a new era of tremendous growth. With the support and partnership of the Corporate Leadership Council, the Houston Parks Board will move closer toward its vision of more and better parks for Houston.
