Three years ago, the Houston Parks Board recognized that it had a window of opportunity to create a system of connected parks and trails along Brays Bayou, so it quietly began the Brays Greenway initiative. Through this project, and in partnership with Harris County Flood Control District, the Parks Board began acquiring parkland along the Bayou, creating a continuous patchwork of green space along the banks.
Building on the Brays Greenway Parkland Acquisition project, the Houston Parks Board and several partners plan to begin trail construction along the newly created Brays Greenway. Design has begun for paved trails that will ultimately allow people to walk, run, and ride bicycles for miles without crossing streets.
Phase I
The first phase to be implemented will be from the Ship Channel (Broadway) to Mason Park. |
