"Celebrating a New Park for Alief"

Construction underway - Public opening anticipated         July, 2008

Phase I renovations are underway and will continue for the next few months.  Improvements included in this phase include:

  • Renovation of the old clubhouse building into a program center that can be used for meetings, social gatherings, crafts and games, classes, parties and just hanging out
  • Renovation of the old cart storage building into an activity center for classes, games, programs and events
  • Improving the trail throughout the site and installing benches
  • Construction of a playground with play structures and swings
  • Creation of a large play hill and open play areas
  • Tree planting
  • Grading and drainage

As additonal funding becomes available, future improvements could include:

  • Expansion of the ponds and creation of an island
  • Additional trail construction and bridge building
  • Installation of picnic facilities including shelters, tables and grills
  • Construction of a water "spray" playground
  • Construction of a plaza with tables and chairs
  • Activity/Program center additions
  • Expansion of the parking area
  • Additional trail improvements
  • Tree planting
