Sam, Bessie and Holly |
Holly Anawaty loved dogs. She had two dogs, Bessie and Pete, who shared in the successes of her life. Holly gave back to her community in many ways and left a beautiful footprint of service on our city. Holly’s best canine friends, Bessie and Pete, comforted Holly during her most trying times. After Bessie passed, Pete stood by Holly through her courageous battle with brain cancer, to which she succumbed in August 2006. In honor of her legacy of service, and in loving memory, Holly’s friends are working with the Houston Parks Board to create a new bark park. |

The Holly Anawaty Bark Park will be developed on the newly acquired 10-acre park at 9420 Kingspoint Road. This wonderfully planned park will incorporate not only areas for man’s best friend, but families and park patrons of all ages. Families will enjoy the playground with play-structures and swings, the ample 16’x24’ picnic shelter, and the open play area for pick-up ball games, frisbee, and other fun activities.
The dog park will include an 18,000 sq. ft. small dog zone and a 2.3-acre big dog zone. Each zone will contain appropriate agility equipment, shelter, water stations and engaging topography. The big dog zone will also include a 1/3 mile exercise path, tall grass prairie area, and wooded zone.
